Till April 12th, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai's new landmark under construction, had completed core cylinder structure pour for 108 storeys of its main building. Its height reached 501.3m, surpassed neighbors of 421m Jinmao Tower and 492m Shanghai World Financial Center, and ranked itself as Shanghai's new top building. Worth mentioning is that all the three landmarks located in Lujiazui district of Pudong were implanted with over 10,000 tons of Baosteel premium steel structures.
Total construction area of Shanghai Tower is 570,000 square meters. Total construction will reach 632m on completion. As planned, the main building will be imposed a ceiling this July; the project will be fully completed in December 2014, and put into operation in 2015.
As is known, Baosteel had up to now provided over 35,000 tons of premium steel structures for Shanghai Tower project while tackling a series of manufacturing difficulties of heavy singular structures and high requirements for precision; discovered in discretion and tackled with concerted efforts extreme difficulties in design of curtain wall support structure gliding nodes, and realized key technology control of ultra-size pillars and linkage truss assembly; thus ensured fulfillment of requirements in production quality and engineering schedule for its main building and curtain wall steel structures with premium products and service, completing with distinction tasks at different phases with affirmation from proprietor and general contractor, etc.
In 1997 and 2007, Baosteel had provided near 20,000 and 30,000 tons of premium steel-structure components respectively for then under-constructed Shanghai's top buildings of Jinmao Tower and World Financial Center, mainly used in key sections of high-altitude area triple-shape pillar of core cylinders, cantilever truss, switch truss, and top truss, etc.
According to appraisal from proprietor and specialists, manufacturing techniques and production capacity of Baosteel steel structures are holding the lead in the circles.
