US-based supermarket chain Stop & Shop has withdrawn several varieties of Farm Rich snack products due to possible contamination with Escherichia coli 0121 bacteria (E. coli).
The company noted that it has taken this step followng the recall by Rich Products.
In late March, Rich Products recalled approximately 196,222lbs of frozen chicken quesadilla and various other heat treated, not fully cooked frozen mini meals and snack items as they may be contaminated with E. coli O121.
Stop & Shop has withdrawn the following products from sale: Farm Rich Mini Quesadillas Appetizers, Mini Pizza Slices and Mozzarella Bites bearing UPC codes 04132235635, 04132235643 and 04132237443 with sell by dates of 1 January 2013 through 29 September 2014.
Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.
Symptoms of E.coli 0121 exposure could include stomach cramps and diarrhea, including diarrhea with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS).
