MeadWestvaco (MWV), a global packaging company has introduced SmartFare, a new package for chilled ready meals (CRM).
The new SmartFare packages are said to transform the CRM tray into a brandable experience, as well as increase brand loyalty and repeat purchase.
According to the company, SmartFare dishes and bowls are dual-ovenable, hermetically sealable and widely recyclable.
SmartFare is claimed to empower brands to bring in visual cues and experiential elements of a cuisine to create an authentic dining experience.
With no tooling investment required, SmartFare is designed to be a drop-in solution for food processors, noted MWV.
MWV global food and beverage chief marketing and innovation officer Diane Teer said the new packaging delivers differentiation at fixture and is a critical new ingredient to commercial success.
"With SmartFare, the consumer research clearly suggests we have a shopper and consumer inspired solution that will help our customers unlock the full value of their investment by addressing consumer needs," Teer added.
A survey conducted by third-party researchers covering 1,263 shoppers in the UK found that 79% consumers opted for SmartFare
as meals are easy to find on the shelf, while 71% prefered it as meals appear new and different in it.
Meals look appetizing in SmartFare as noted by 44% consumers and 38% said that meals looked fresh in SmartFare.
With a network of 125 facilities, the company provides solutions for the brands in the healthcare, beauty and personal care, food, beverage, home and garden, tobacco, and agricultural industries.
