Recently, loaded with Baosteel quality steel products, "Bao Tong Hai 7" officially begins its maiden voyage at Baosteel Co.,Ltd. finished products wharf and offers service for Baosteel finished product quality steel coastal shipping. This marks that Baosteel International's subordinate Baotong Co.'s competitive strength in inland sea transportation has improved significantly and this will further enhance Baosteel quality steel coastal transportation capacity.
Originally Bao Tong Co. has 3 2400-ton "Bao Tong Hai" series ships, which are mainly responsible for Baosteel quality steel coastal transportation task. In recent years, with Baosteel's continuously enhancement of finished product transportation requirements, as well as the age growth of Baotong's three ships, (especially "Bao Tong Hai 1" is over 10 years of age and can not meet Baosteel quality steel waterway transport development requirements), after audit approval by Baosteel Co.,Ltd., Baotong Co. and Jiangsu Yizheng Yangzi Shipyard sign a shipbuilding contract for the construction of a 4900-ton dry cargo ship- "Bao Tong Hai 7" to replace "Bao Tong Hai 1". It is for improving Baotong Co.'s operation capacity and efficiency, reducing operation cost and further enhancing Baosteel products' service capacity.
It is known that Bao Tong's first 4900-ton load capacity coast shipping dry cargo ship - "Bao Tong Hai 7" construction is started in July 2011. With a total length of 95 m, 15.8 m molded breadth, 7.3 m depth, the cargo hold is double-bottom and hull, has hydraulic hatch and designed annual transportation capacity is 200,000 tons.
