Naturex, a France-based producer of plant-based natural ingredients, is set to introduce a new Energy Chew concept at the ongoing IFT Food Expo event in Chicago, Illinois, US.
According to the company, the chews have been developed to show confectionery manufacturers the potential for creating functional candy concepts with better taste and wide appeal among consumers.
The citrus-flavored Energy Chews feature the guarana and panax ginseng root extracts from Naturex's NAT healthy range. The chews are colored with natural paprika from the company's NAT color range and textured with pectin from the NAT textur range.
Naturex business manager Amandine De Santi said that functional confectionery is an emerging trend and energy remains a popular benefit among US consumers.
"We've seen a number of successful energy confectionery launches in recent times, and we've developed our Energy Chews to demonstrate how we can help manufacturers and marketers looking to enter this exciting market."
"We can also work closely with businesses to help them combine our extracts and create the finished products that are right for them," Santi added.
Headquartered in France, Naturex manufactures natural specialty ingredients for the food & beverage, nutrition & health and personal care industries. The company employs 1,400 people and has 15 production units in Europe the US, Brazil, Australia, Morocco and India.
