US based auto mobile manufacturer Ford Motor is planning to recall certain units of model year 2012-2013 Focus Electric as well as Focus ST vehicles over the defective head lights.
The recall affects 2012-2013 Focus Electric vehicles manufactured from 15 September 2011 to 06 May 2013 and model year 2013 Focus ST vehicles produced during 16 February 2012 through 07 May 2013, both of which are equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights.
The front side marker lamps in the vehicles may not function due to a wiring incompatibility, resulting in failure to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 requirements.
According to the documents submitted by the company, the improper illumination of the side maker lamps leads to less visibility of the vehicle at night time, thus increasing the risk of a crash.
The manufacturer is expected to begin the recall with immediate effect, under which it will replace the headlamp assembly wiring.
