Spain-based stainless producer Acerinox said that the company announced to begin production at the second phase of its Bahru Stainless works in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The new plant was able to produce the first coil in the annealing and pickling line AP2 on Tuesday and it was designed with production capacity of 400,000 tons per year.
Meanwhile, Acerinox also indicated the second phase includes a cold rolling mill, the cold annealing and pickling line, several auxiliary lines, and an electric substation to supply power to an eventual electric arc furnace melting shop. For the new steel plant will allow the company to produce specialized steel and thin thickness grades to make products with greater added value, according to reported.
