Aavin, a Tami Nadu Co-op Milk Producers Federation, has opened a new dairy farm in Pudukottai, Tami Nadu.
The Tami Nadu state chief minister Jayalalithaa inaugurated the new dairy facility through video conference, reports The Hindu.
The facility has been constructed with an investment of around INR29.9m ($0.49m) and will help 17 district milk producers' cooperative unions in the state with milk processing and storage facilities.
Aavin's new dairy can process around 35,000 litres of milk per day and is said to benefit around 45,000 milk producers under the cooperative fold in the district.
The chief minister also inaugurated renovated milk diary at Kaakkalur in Tiruvallur district, which involved an investment of about INR45m ($0.74m).
In addition, the warehousing facilities at a cattle fodder plant in Erode district has been opened by the chief minister, which has been constructed with an investment of about INR35m ($0.58m).
