French food cooperative Agrial has acquired Dutch fresh vegetables specialist Van Oers United for an undisclosed amount.
Van Oers United will become a part of Agrial's vegetable division Priméale.
As part of the acquisition, Agrial vegetable division will consolidate its international position in the markets of Northern Europe in accordance with its strategic plan, in addition to expanding its vegetables portfolio by adding different types of beans, Brussels sprouts, spring onions, radishes and sweet corn. The Netherlands, Scandinavia, Belgium, Germany and the UK are target markets.
It will secure access to Van Oers United's production locations and processing facilities in the Netherlands, Morocco and Senegal, and thereby has product availability through out the year.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the competition regulators in the countries concerned.
Van Oers United generated €245m in annual sales volume last year.
Priméale has eight production basins in France and two in Spain and Portugal where it produces and packages a wide range of fresh vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, lettuce, leeks, asparagus, cabbages, celery, radishes, turnips, garlic, onions and shallots.
