Mahindra & Mahindra's (M&M) Farm Equipment Sector has launched a new tractor manufacturing plant at Zaheerabad, Andhra Pradesh in India.
The plant with a footprint of 60,000sqmt is built with investment of over INR3bn ($5.48m) and is claimed to have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tractors that can be increase to meet the demand.
M&M chairman Anand Mahindra said: "Our endeavour is to be present in the entire eco system of Agri Business and this new facility will help brand Mahindra to deliver on its promise of Farm Tech Prosperity."
M&M Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors president Pawan Goenka said that the Zaheerabad tractor plant is the largest tractor plant in Asia for the company.
"With this plant we are also setting up a supplier park which will help to bring more investment and employment in the region," Goenka said.
The company has tractor manufacturing facilities in Mumbai, Nagpur, Rudrapur, Jaipur, Mohali and Rajkot in India along with two plants each in the US and China, and one plant in Australia.
