Finnish pulp and paper company Metsa Board is all set to introduce its lightweight cartonboards for perfumes and cosmetics at Packaging of perfumes, Cosmetics & Design (PCD) 2013 event from 6-7 February in Paris.
Besides exhibiting its sustainable packaging boards of Carta Integra, Carta Elega, Carta Solida and Avanta Prima, the company will also introduce board improvements and new services.
Metsa Board will also unveil enhancements to two of its grades Carta Elega and Avanta Prima designed for beautycare, fragrances and other applications.
Following the start-up of a biopower plant in October 2012 at the Kyro mill, the carbon footprint of the boards is estimated to be halved.
Metsa Board Beautycare & Healthcare commercial director Christophe Baudry said the boards currently have a middle layer that uses bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP).
"BCTMP is a pulp especially developed for its purity and lightness. This provides improved taint and odour properties as well as cleanliness. Both boards now have a triple coating on the top side, which improves printing results," Baudry said.
The company will exhibit its new Chromolux cast-coated board range. Six of its colors are now available in 350g/m2 weight, which provide better choice for packaging of products such as fragrances.
Metsa Board will also announce the availability of increased capacity of its folding boxboards.
