BenQ to release 32-inch direct-type LED TV Julian Ho,Taipei
BenQ is set to release a new 32-inch direct-type LED TV by the end of May that will be priced around NT$11,900(US$400)in hope that the company will stay in competition with leading LCD TV seller,Samsung Electronics,in the Taiwan market.
Industry sources said LCD TVs are expected to sell well in Taiwan during the second quarter amongst Taiwan government issuing a second wave of energy efficient subsidies that include NT$2,000(US$68)discounts for LCD TVs as well as increased promotion for the TVs during the Summer Olympics.
BenQ estimates that its sales for the TVs will come from China,Taiwan,and Japan but that the company will lag behind Samsung in the US and European markets.
The company also plans to release a 42-inch connected TV in June that will use an Android 2.2 system platform along with a 55 inch high-end model in September.
