Nokia and Microsoft Unveil Windows Phone 8-Based Lumia Smartphones

Everything Everywhere is set to be the exclusive launch partner of Nokia's Lumia 920 smartphones, which are designed to run on the mobile operator's 4G network.

The Financial Times reported that the Finnish company is in talks with Everything Everywhere-the merged network infrastructure of Orange and T-Mobile-to launch the phone in November in a strategy that will see it only sell phones through selected operators and retail channels.

Apple had a similar deal with mobile operator O2 in the UK in 2007 when the first iPhone was launched.

The deal could see Everything Everywhere become the first UK operator to launch a Windows Phone 8 smartphone and the first to launch a phone with 4G capabilities.

However, the Nokia Lumia 920 could be beaten to the punch, when Apple's iPhone 5 is launched on 12 September.

Everything Everywhere, though,is in an envious position to its rivals as it looks set to liberalise its 2G spectrum so that it can become the first operator to deliver 4G services in the UK,while rivals O2,Vodafone and 3 will have to wait until the 4G spectrum auction is finished in early 2013.

The mobile operator, owned by T-Mobile and Orange, will hold a launch event on Tuesday, which it says will reveal"exciting information on our new brand and the latest innovation in network technology".
