HSBC's online banking app for businesses is now available on Google's Android mobile operating system.(OS)
The Business Banking app–which is already available on Apple and Blackberry devices–will now be accessible to hundreds of thousands more users.
Steve Price,head of Business Banking at HSBC,said the bank could not ignore the growth of Android take-up.
"Mobile phones with the Android OS are getting ever more popular,and have even overtaken the iPhone,"said Price.
In April HSBC released an app that enables consumers to access bank account details from their mobile phones.The Fast Balance app,as it is known,was jointly developed by the bank and mobile banking supplier Monitise.
Mobile apps are in high demand by consumers and businesses.Over 120,000 people downloaded Barclays Bank's Pingit mobile banking application within five days of its release in February.
Due to high demand from businesses,Barclays increased the amount that can be paid to businesses through Pingit mobile banking app.
Businesses can now receive payments of unlimited value.Barclays scrapped the previous limit of 5,000 pound per day following high demand for the service.
Some 5,700 small businesses have registered to use the app as an alternative to cash,cards,cheques and online transfers.
