Swedish automotive manufacturer Volvo Group has launched a new UD bus range in India, focusing on its growth markets.
The UD bus range will include both city buses and coaches. This launch will be followed by additional growth markets over the coming years.
The company expects that the new brand will expand its customer base, improve competitiveness and capture growth opportunities in India and other growth markets.
Volvo will manufacture the UD buses in Bangalore, India, during 2014, with roll out planned for later in 2014.
Volvo Group's distribution network will support the new bus range by offering service and parts.
Volvo Group Asia, international bus operations senior vice president Akash Passey said that the company will introduce a new UD bus range specifically designed for growth markets.
"The segment targeted has high growth potential. UD buses have had a strong brand presence in Japan and South East Asia in the past. Now we renew and adapt the buses for India and other growth markets," Passey added.
