British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin has collaborated with the automobile components manufacturer Bosch to develop a new plug-in hybrid vehicle .
As part of the collaboration, the companies have unveiled the new Aston Martin DB9 plug-in hybrid concept vehicle.
The vehicle is powered by the 6L V12 engine combined with two electric motors that jointly generate an output of 740bhp (552 kW), while the motors supply the power to the front wheels.
DB9 plug-in hybrid offers an acceleration of 0-100km/h in about 3.7sec, 20% faster compared to the standard vehicle and an all electric travel range of 16miles (25.7km) with the 180kWh lithium-ion battery.
Features of the vehicle include an analogue instrument panel, which replaces the previous TFT screen, allows the driver to adjust throttle response, torque vectoring and other performance-related settings.
The hybrid concept vehicle was built by Bosch as part of a research project and is expected to be delivered in the Autumn of 2013.
