Mitsubishi Electric has developed an advanced active noise control (ANC) system designed to block out less predictable and unrelated road sounds
The system, known as FLEXConnect.ANC, features Mentor Graphics-developed XSeANC technology to facilitate reduced engine and road noise.
Mitsubishi Electric quality and engineering, audio, video & communications sales director Doug Ray said: "The FLEXConnect.ANC development accelerates the pace that OEMs can refine that experience.
"FLEXConnect.ANC provides drivers and passengers a quieter environment, enabling them to hear phone calls, music and navigation commands by minimizing outside interference."
The Mentor Graphics software of the new FLEXConnect.ANC will also allow for reduced cost for automakers by removing heavy, noise-dampening materials.
To facilitate faster convergence, the XSe ANC system will use advanced audio processing techniques and high-performance algorithms, thus adapting rapidly to varying noises.
Mentor Automotive Business Unit general manager Rainer Oder said: "Compared to traditional ANC systems, our solution tackles broadband noise while requiring reduced tuning and calibration effort, overall dramatically shortening our customers' time to market."
The company also introduced new generation of FLEXConnect in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems designed to provide a cost effective three-screen user interface.
Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America strategic technologies, audio, video & communications manager Gareth Williams said: "FLEXConnect.IVI builds on flexible, extensible architecture allowing users to easily share content between passenger entertainment systems and outside devices such as tablets or phones."
