Renault India Pvt. Ltd, the fully owned subsidiary of Renault s.a.s. achieved sales of 35,052 units for the calendar year 2012. The sales for the month of December 2012 stood at 5924 units. Compared to this year the company had clocked 1401 units last year between June and December 2011 and had offered only two models the Fluence and the Koleos to its customers.
Renault India Pvt Ltd in the last twelve months added to its portfolio of products with the launch of three more models. The Pulse in January 2012 at the New Delhi Auto Expo followed by the popular SUV Duster, which has gone on to create a new segment for itself, with path breaking sales and market recognition winning in the process the Indian Car of the Year and the mid size sedan Scala.
Renault India not only launched three models but also created a pan India dealership network at a rapid pace creating close to 100 dealer points in the last 18 months leading to the fastest ramp up of both product introduction as well as network creation reinforcing its commitment to the Indian market.
Mr Marc Nassif MD of Renault India Pvt Ltd said that “It is very satisfying for all of us at Renault to close the year with sales of over 35,000 units and delivering what we promised in the beginning of the year to our prospective customers. A full range of cars with 5 models, a pan India network which will be close to 100 strong soon reflecting our commitment to the Indian market and as promised we reached our target of multiplying our sales 20 times over that of last year when we launched in June, 2011. We are confident that next year too, we will be able to keep the momentum going as our products are well accepted by our customers and Renault brand value is increasing with great feedback from customers and recognition in terms of many awards from the media although the market continues to remain sluggish with high inflation, fuel price hike and high interest rates. If the market dynamics improve the automotive industry is sure to get a boost in the coming year.”
Renault India Pvt Ltd clocked 5924 units in the month of December 2012 with the Duster accounting for 4485 units, the Scala 820 units, Pulse 515 units, Fluence 68 units and the Koleos 36 units. Total sales for December 2011 was 185 units with the Fluence accounting for 145 units and Koleos 40 units.
