AgroFresh Solutions announces a new formulation of Harvista pre-harvest technology to help apple and pear growers in Argentina gain a competitive edge.
Argentina's Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (SENASA) has granted registration for the new, easier-to-apply Harvista 1,3 SC formulation.
Harvista technology is a pre-harvest application of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP), which inhibits ethylene recognition in fruit for superior fruit quality and improved value from harvest to storage.
With Harvista in their orchard management program, apple and pear growers can harvest the fruit at the optimal color, size and internal quality for greater revenue and more profitable operations.
"This is an important formulation approval that we expect will allow AgroFresh to provide Harvista to more growers and on more hectares throughout Argentina," said Jeferson Nunes, Latin America Commercial Director for AgroFresh. "With Harvista 1,3 SC, growers can enjoy the benefits of better quality apples that they can sell at higher prices.
Harvista technology also helps growers manage harvest by allowing flexible picking schedules. Because Harvista extends time on the tree, growers can schedule harvest for highest quality and efficient labor management.
New Harvista 1,3 SC will be available for the 2016-17 season. Argentina is the first Latin American country to grant registration for new Harvista 1,3 SC formulation. Registration is currently pending in Chile.
