A few days ago, according to the requirement of a marine engineering project, Baosteel successfully developed two specifications of X100M ultrahigh strength UOE welded pipe and firstly realized commercial production and supply in China.
Concerning on the user's specific requirements on ultrahigh strength UOE welded pipe in respect of high strength, high tenacity and dimension, etc., based on existing experimental researches and industrial trial-manufacture experience of X100 pipeline steel, Baosteel Centre Research Institute, Baosteel Manufacture Management Department, Steel-making Plant, Heavy Plate Department and Tube, Pipe and Bar Business Unit cooperated together and successfully developed and manufactured ultrahigh strength X100M UOE welded pipe required by the user by taking full advantages of Baosteel consistent system and management of the whole process of "smelting casting, heavy plate rolling and manufacturing of welded pipe"; moreover, mass production of ultrahigh strength X100M UOE welded pipe is also realized.
During research and development process, R&D group developed matched welding material and process through continuous innovation of composition design and process control. Besides, the group also overcame difficulties on profile control of high-strength thin steel plate, and high requirement on molding and welding of welded pipe, on the basis of meeting X100 high-strength requirement, made the finished welded pipe have high low temperature impact toughness and excellent cutting precision and pipe quality under 40℃ condition. Now, the first batch of commercially produced Baosteel X100M ultrahigh strength UOE welded pipes has delivered to the user.
