Japanese producer of flavors and fragrances Takasago International has established a manufacturing and research facility in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The new manufacturing plant, which is spread over an area of about 15,000ft2, is located in the Chennai suburb of Ponamallee.
It consists of laboratories to create and blend flavours and fragrances, store raw materials and can even ship goods to customers efficiently. This facility has a capacity of about 1,500 metric tons of liquid flavour and fragrance compounds, reports the foodingredientsfirst.com.
Takasago has also appointed a dedicated flavorist and application support expert, to undertake and deliver flavors for food, beverage and oral care industries.
Takasago International Singapore managing director Alfredo Asuncion Jr said that the company has unveiled a new manufacturing facility in India in response to the growing consumer demand in the country.
The Ponamallee facility will be the company's central base, monitoring the development of another manufacturing facility in the state. The construction of the new facility is scheduled to begin by the end of September 2013. The facility is expected to become operational by the end of March 2015.
The market for fragrances in India is anticipated to reach around $452 million in 2015.
