Volvo Will Supply Engines for a Number of Airport Fire-Fighting Vehicles

Volvo Penta will supply engines for a number of airport fire-fighting vehicles from the company Rosenbauer.

As per the new agreement, Volvo will deliver more than 100 16-liter diesel engines per year which will be fitted into such specially built, rapid-deployment vehicles as the Panther, used at airports globally.

Volvo Penta business development manager Miron Thoms said for this area of application, the company has certified an industrial engine to comply with the Euro 5 emissions standard, jointly with Rosenbauer.

"The format for emission requirements varies in different parts of the world; using our solution, we will have the same base engine and still meet these differing regulations," Thoms said.

The cooperation, which is also expanded to include conventional fire-fighting vehicles, strengthens the Volvo Group's collaboration with Rosenbauer.

The Volvo Group is now offering chassis for fire-fighting trucks of Rosenbauer, to meet the latter's expansion efforts.
