Cree,a provider of innovative LED lighting,lighting-class LEDs and semiconductor products for radio-frequency and power applications,has launched a new 170 lumens-per-watt(LPW)prototype LED light bulb.The company produces energy-efficient LED lighting products that are free from mercury.
The new LED bulb delivers over 1250 lm while consuming 7.3 W.Cree has used its TrueWhite Technology which enables the bulb to deliver a 90+CRI.These criteria were tested by OnSpeX,an independent lab.
Cree had earlier introduced a 152 LPW LED light bulb.The new bulb showcases the company's commitment to address key factors that are affecting widespread utilization of LED lighting products–the initial cost of the product and the payback period.
Cree has made significant advancements in the optics,thermal management,drivers and lighting-class LEDs.It has built an innovative SC3 Technology Platform based on advanced silicon carbide technology.The platform includes the advancements made by the company in LED phosphor and chip architecture.
Cree lighting's VP of R&D,Nick Medendorp,stated that optimizing all of the LED design elements were important in building the new LED light bulb.The company is developing and implementing new technology that delivers high light quality while consuming less energy,leading to LED luminaires that deliver high performance at lower cost.
