The Pioneer reported that the only route for transporting iron ore from the mines at Kirandul and Bailadilla in Chhattisgarh to the industries of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh including the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was hit by the derailment of a goods train for last three days.
With the derailment of the empty train at a tunnel at Gorapur on the Andhra-Odisha border, the movement of particularly freight trains on the track was stopped for undertaking track repairs
According to railway officials, 15 bogies of the empty goods train going from Visakhapatnam to Kirandul derailed near the Andhra-Odisha border.
The industrial units of Visakhapatnam that need iron ore would have to wait for four days to get their supplies of the mineral from Chhattisgarh as the repaired track would have to be certified fit for train movements by railway
