American multinational company Berkshire Hathaway has signed a franchise agreement with US-based food company Bajco Group to open close to 20 Dairy Queen fast food brand outlets in UAE next year.
Under this agreement, Berkshire Hathaway will open first Dairy Queen Treat store in early 2015, while the first Grill & Chill restaurant will open by Q2 2015, The National reported.
International Dairy Queen COO Jean Champagne was quoted by Gulf Business as saying: "We are looking forward to expanding our global reach in the Middle East region and are excited about the opportunity to re-introduce the Dairy Queen brand to the United Arab Emirates.
"Bajco Group brings extensive QSR experience and a strong, successful background in multi-unit restaurant development. We know they are the right franchisee to help us increase our world-wide brand presence."
However, the locations of the stores are not confirmed yet.
Bajco Group president Malik Bajwa was quoted by The National as saying: "We will likely open in the Northern Emirates such as Ras Al Khaimah, and we are also looking at Sharjah and Al Ain. Our flagship standalone store will most likely be in Dubai on the Jumeirah Beach Road or Sheikh Zayed Road."
The present deal will allow Berkshire Hathaway to open its outlets in UAE over the next five years.
