Forum Replaced 450 Fluorescent Tubes and Sodium Lamps with Environment Friendly Lights

Forum Packaging has replaced over 450 fluorescent tubes and sodium lamps with environmentally friendly induction lights, in a bid to annually save energy and more than £20,000 on its electricity bills and maintenance costs.

The £33,000 lights, which have been installed by Balcan Lighting Supplies, will be used to light up Forum Packaging's 145,000ft2 plant on Mareham Road Horncastle, Lincolnshire.

According to the UK-based paper packaging company, the bulbs are expected to cut down energy usage by over 160,000KWH annually.

The induction lighting, which will be controlled by motion sensors, will be either on and fully lit or off with no cooling down period, allowing savings in the warehouse.

Forum Packaging managing director Mark Spivey said the company needed to find a cost-effective solution to lower its electricity usage, with the need to reduce energy wastage and reduce environmental impact.

"We are working towards our ISO 14001 Environmental Standard, so we are integrating a number of ways to be more energy efficient," Spivey said.
