Car electronics supplier Delphi has announced that the company is going to test its active safety technologies by driving a specially outfitted Audi SQ5 driverless car along 3,500 miles from San Francisco to New York.
According to Delphi, the testing will allow its engineers to accumulate critical data, which is expected to help the company further advance its active safety technology.
Delphi added that the vehicle would be tested under a several driving conditions including changing weather and terrain, and potential road hazards.
The company unveiled the automated driving vehicle at the 2015 CES, and the technology includes radar vision and advanced drive assistance systems (ADAS),Multi-domain controller,V2V/V2X Wireless vehicle communication technology, and Intelligent software.
The safety technologies designed by Delphi is expected to enable the vehicle to make complex decisions including stopping and then proceeding at a four-way stop, timing a highway merge in a faster way.
