Avery Dennison is introducing a new pressure-sensitive label for meat packaging applications which it claims will withstand the vacuum-shrink process without wrinkling
The self-adhesive label manufacturer said that the new label will provide both greater shelf appeal and production-related benefits.
The patent-pending product, called Avery Dennison shrink PS, is applied to vacuum shrink bags prior to filling, sealing and shrinking.
The firm said that compared with direct-printed shrink bags, its product offers "enhanced packaging flexibility, brand differentiation, and also enables manufacturers to reduce or eliminate multiple sets of pre-printed shrink bag inventory".
"Avery Dennison Shrink PS is an exciting innovation that both enhances our customers' brands and provides production-related benefits," said food market segment leader Dan Galovic.
"This is a great example of how Avery Dennison can help customers solve difficult packaging challenges and take advantage of seasonal and short-term marketing opportunities."
Avery Dennison said that potential applications include the labelling of processed and fresh meats, pork and poultry products.
