US based Kendall Packaging has broken ground on the expansion of its existing manufacturing site in Pittsburg’s Northeast Regional Industrial Park.
The flexible packaging manufacturer is investing $10m for 59,000ft2 expansion in area of the facility in a bid to double its production capacity.
The expansion involves installation of necessary new equipment worth $6m to the production platform and increase employment by approximately 30% by the end of the project’s first phase.
Kendall plans to install a 10-color flexographic printing press, a solventless laminator, a slitter and other ancillary equipment.
Kendall Packaging president and CEO Eric Erickson III said: "This expansion provides us with a much larger facility to house necessary equipment to strengthen our manufacturing capabilities and ensure we are offering highquality packaging and excellent customer service to our customers.
“As we expand our production potential, this added space will provide us with opportunities for growth in the future."
The expansion project, which is part of Kendall Packaging’s current growth plan, is expected to significantly contribute to area economic development efforts.
Erickson III earlier said: “Between the Pittsburg plant and our facility in Jefferson, Wisconsin, we will have invested approximately $17m in new equipment and added plant capacity.”
The company plans to commission the new equipment at the site by September 2017.
