Optical lens module maker Genius Electronic Optical has extended development and production to LED lighting and has offered LED fishing lights for Pacific saury fishing boats, according to the company.
Conventional fishing lights on Pacific saury fishing boats consume as much power as 2,000kWh per hour and have high light degradation, while LED lights are low power consumption and ight-weight (4kg per 1,000W), with low wind drag (625cm2 per 1,000W) and resistance to strong acid and alkali, Genius Electronic indicated. Several Taiwan-based fishing boats have adopted LED lights for their Pacific saury fishing operations, Genius Electronic said.
Genius Electronic also offers LED lights for fishing squid, with Taiwan-based squid fishing boats trial-using the products in squid fishing farms near Argentina, Genius Electronic indicated, adding it expects to begin shipments of such lamps at the end of 2015, the company said.
Industrial and consumer applications each account for 30% of its LED lighting revenues, and street lamps take up 20%, Genius Electronic said. While LED lighting takes up less than 10% of the compamny's consolidated revenues, Genius Electronic said it expects the business operations to swing from to profitability in 2015.
