Outokumpu and Thyssenkrupp Planned to Align Alloy Surcharge Price Lists From March

Reportedly, Finnish stainless steel producer Outokumpu and ThyssenKrupp Nirosta planned to align alloy surcharge price lists from March this year while they were quoted separate alloy surcharge price lists for February this year.

However, the alloy surcharges for flat rolled stainless products are calculated on actual raw material prices and it is definitely to affect currently the company’s calculation format in order to meet fair and realistic prices for raw materials at this moment.

According to reported in February, for type 304 products Outokumpu’s alloy adjustment factor of €1,277/ton is 1.8% less than Nirosta’s €1,300/ton.

There is a bigger variation in type 430 where Outokumpu’s surcharge is 7.7% less than Nirosta’s respectively
