US-based automobile manufacturer Ford Motor has recalled 465,000 vehicles due to the problem of fuel leakage along with two other recalls.

The first recall affects 2013 models of Ford including Explorer, Taurus, Flex, Fusion and Police Interceptor utilities and sedans as well as Lincoln MKS, MKT and MKZ vehicles.

Out of the total vehicles, about 390,000 have been recalled in the US, following the report of about 600 fuel leak complaints by 31 March 2013.

Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker was quoted by detroitnews.com as saying in an email that the condition could result in customers detecting a fuel odor, or in some cases, observe evidence of a fuel leak on the ground.

"While a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire, there have been no reports of fires," Felker said.

"We are not aware of any accidents or injuries attributed to this condition."

The automobile manufacturer is also recalling 500 units of the new 2013 Lincoln MKZ midsize sedans including 100units in the US and the remaining in Canada having engine block heaters.

According to the automaker, insulation on the engine block heater electrical cord could crack in temperatures of minus four degrees or colder and result in exposed wiring, increasing the risk of electrical shock and corrosion.

Additionally, the company is recalling 23 new 2013 model year Fusion midsize sedans for steering gears that may have been built without an internal retaining clip, leading to impaired steering or loss of steering control.
