Atos subsidiary in electronic payments and transactional services Atos Worldline has signed a deal with the French carmaker Renault to use its R-Link Cloud services platform.
The platform will be used in Atos products used in vehicles to allow them to navigate, while the connectivity issues will be looked after by the business telecommunications operators Orange Business Services.
Renault R-Link is an integrated and connected multimedia system used in vehicles that allows better navigation and comes with a large touch screen and applications store.
Atos executive committee member Marc-Henri Desportes said the company's platform can integrate content and service suppliers, allowing new revenue streams to be generated and improving customer satisfaction via an income and risk sharing model.
"We help our customers to make contextual mobility services into a direct and sustainable competitive advantage, which opens up new possibilities for all business sectors," Desportes added.
Orange Business Services will deliver M2M SIM cards to Renault that will be embedded into the cars in M2M devices in order to offer the relevant subscriptions.
The data exchanged between the car and the Atos Worldline platform will pass through a secure system via Orange mobile networks and those of its European partners.
