Alvanon Supports The Nationwide Launch of New M&S Woman 'Body Shape Denim', BSD, Range

Alvanon, the world’s leading apparel sizing and fit expert, has announced that it is working with Marks & Spencer in the UK to conduct a consumer body shape scan service to support the nationwide launch of its new M&S Woman ‘Body Shape Denim’, BSD, range.

Alvanon’s advanced AlvaScan radio wave scanner will begin its nationwide tour on the 5th September 2012 at the M&S Braehead store in Glasgow and will go on to major stores in Newcastle, Cheshire Oaks and Bristol, arriving at its last destination, London’s Marble Arch store on Wednesday 3rd October.

Each consumer scan will generate a ‘best fit’ recommendation for one of M&S’s three new BSD styles Eva, Marilyn or Lana.  The three BSD styles are based on the analysis of 10,000 UK women’s three dimensional body shape scans supplied from Alvanon’s global database of 200,000 female consumers.

The AlvaScan is based on the latest millimetre radio wave technology and is the only scanner that collects accurate measurements from a person who is fully clothed.  The scanner uses safe, low power radio waves to detect moisture on the surface of the skin. In the 15 seconds it takes to complete each scan, the AlvaScan collects some 200,000 data points on the consumer’s body and instantly converts them into around 100 body measurements, posture and shape characteristics.

This information is then used to inform the best style of BSD jean to fit and flatter the consumer’s shape.  The AlvaScan is fully certified by the US Federal Communications Commission and operates at less than 1/360th of the power of a mobile phone.
