Toyota Motors Must Cross 150,000 Sales So Far This Year in August 2013 in Australia

Japanese automaker Toyota Motors is set to cross 150,000 sales so far this year, with the company reporting sales of 141,300 units for the eight months ended August 2013 in Australia.

Individually Corolla leads the sales with almost 28,600 sedans and hatches sold followed by HiLux in third place and Australian-built petrol and hybrid Camry in top ten.

Australians have bought 17,762 Toyota vehicles during August 2013, a two-third higher than any other company.

In August, Corolla reported above-average sales of 3,682 followed by the new-generation RAV4 with 1,780 deliveries and the 86 sports car with 752 sales.

Other segment brands that lead the sales include Camry, LandCruiser Prado, LandCruiser 200, HiLux 4x2, HiLux 4x4, HiAce bus and HiAce van.

Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said that the strong August sales result masked an underlying reduction in new orders from key customers, particularly fleets.

"There was further evidence in August of customers putting orders on ice ahead of the federal elections, due to the cloud over the potential FBT arrangements," Cramb added.

"At the same time - with eight months of sales already in the bank - the industry is headed for a strong result in excess of one million sales this year."

With this growth, the company expects to reach 150,000 units sale by the end of September 2013 and more than 200,000 unit sales by the end of 2013.
