Ford has announced two safety recalls for 450,013 vehicles in North America due to issues with the fuel tank and steering column.
The company is recalling around 450,000 units of 2010-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles due to issues related with the fuel tank where the canister purge valve might not work properly, which may cause internal pressure changes inside the fuel tank.
Ford said that repeated changes inside the tank might cause crack on the top of the tank which can lead to fuel leak.
The issue has affected 2010-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles that were manufactured at Hermosillo Assembly Plant from July 21, 2008 through March 4, 2011.
The automaker said that the dealers will update the powertrain control module software, and inspect the canister purge valve and fuel tank for leaks.
The second recall involves 13 units of the 2016 F-650 vehicles due to issues with the vehicle's steering column.
The affected vehicles features steering column that uses the "park" position mechanism which might fracture if the vehicle is on a grade loaded and the shift lever is in park, resulting in unintended vehicle movement.
The affected vehicles were built at Ohio Assembly Plant from July 29, 2015 through Sept. 3, 2015.
Ford said that Dealers will reconfigure the instrument panel and replace the steering column.
The company also mentioned that it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the issues.
