South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor is set to commence the production of heavy-duty trucks in China in 2014.
The company will produce its Trago cargo and dump trucks at a new manufacturing plant in Sichuan province, which is slated to open in the first half of 2014. The new plant will have the capacity to produce 160,000 vehicles per year.
Besides this, the automotive firm plans to reach 400,000 commercial vehicles sales by 2020 through production expansion and introduction of new vehicles in China, Turkey and the US.
In August 2012, the South Korean automaker had broken ground on a commercial vehicle plant in Ziyang, China.
The plant named, Sichuan Hyundai Motor, is a 50-50 joint venture (JV) between Hyundai and China's Sichuan Nanjun Automobile Group.
The new plant is scheduled to be completed by the first half of 2014 and is expected to roll out 150,000 trucks per year.
