Dongfeng Honda Automobile, a joint venture bewteen Honda and Dongfeng in China, has started the production at its new second automobile plant in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
According to the carmaker, the second plant can initially produce 100,000 units and the company plans to expand its capacity to 120,000 units by 2013 and to 240,000 units in the future.
The new plant features a new full-pallet conveyor assembly line, which allows alteration of the ground height of the conveyer, with the vehicle doors carried under the pallet, along with a barrier-free process which reduces number of manufacturing steps.
Further, Honda is expanding production capacity and accelerating the localisation of production, sales and development to support its aim to achieve a 20% year-on-year increase in sales units in 2012.
By 2015, Honda is also planning to double its sales compared to what it recorded in 2011.
