ABP Food Has Suspended Production at Its Silvercrest Plant in County Monaghan, Ireland

ABP Food has suspended production at its Silvercrest plant in County Monaghan, Ireland, in response to a study which found that the company’s frozen burgers contained horse meat.

Earlier this week, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) released the results of a study which revealed that beef burgers sold in several supermarkets chains in Ireland and the UK contained horse DNA.

According to the study, the beef burgers that contained horse DNA were produced at two processing facilities in Ireland - Silvercrest Foods Liffey Meats, and one processing facility in UK - Dalepak Hambleton.

ABP Food noted during the suspension of production, all staff will continue to be paid, and the company will be working with the relevant authorities, management and supervisory team to complete the investigation.
