Brazil is set to recommence meat exports to Saudi Arabia and China by the end of this year, Brazil’s agriculture minister Neri Geller said.
This announcement follows China's decision to remove its ban on Brazilian beef and speed up the certification process.
Both China and Saudi Arabia banned the import of Brazilian beef in December 2012 due to a case of mad cow disease reported in the southern state of Parana.
Neri Geller said that the growth potential from the readmission of Brazilian beef into the two markets will help further industrialise the country's global agricultural trade and incorporate technological advances, China Daily reported.
Geller was further quoted by the China Daily as saying: "The decision of the Chinese government is recognition of the rigorous process of production and inspection.
"This generates trade surplus and moves the national economy."
Exports to China is expected to start in the first half of December, while Saudi Arabia is set to import Brazilian beef by the end of this year.
With this development, Brazil is expected to increase its beef production by 3%, China Daily said.
