LED packaging service provider Unity Opto Technology started production at a new factory in northern Taiwan in early November 2014 and has expanded its monthly production capacity for LED light bulbs from two million to three million units. Capacity is likely to further increase to 4-5 million units at the end of the year, according to the company.
Unity Opto saw its consolidated revenues of NT$2.621 billion (US$86.6 million) for the third quarter rise 28% on quarter and 51% on year. Growth was due to increased shipments of new LED light bulbs and WCG (wide color gamut) backlight units used in high-end smartphones, the company said.
Unity Opto on November 6 reported consolidated revenues of NT$877 million for October, decreasing 4.52% on month but increasing 60.37% on year, and NT$7.470 billion for January-October, growing on year by 22.78%.
