The decision was triggered due to the fall in Ruble value which has plunged 50% against dollar this year, reported Reuters.

Renault- Nissan Alliance CEO Carlos Ghosn told reporters: "We have suspended taking orders."

"We didn't do it (suspend orders) overall, just on some models we said, 'Sorry, until we see where this situation is going we don't take orders."

Russia is the fifth -largest market for the car maker and apart from selling vehicles under its own brand the company also controls Russian automaker Avtovaz.

The suspended models include the ones that are manufactured in Russia and the ones that used large quantities of imported parts, reported BBC.

According to reports Audi, General Motors, and Jaguar Land Rover have also stopped deliveries to Russian dealers due to Ruble plunge.

Carlos Ghosn expects the market to stabilize in the coming months and is planning to grow Renault- Nissan Alliance's combined market share to 40% from the present 35% in Russia.
