UK’s dairy company Dairy Crest has extended its Cathedral City block cheddar range to include three new flavoured cheddar varieties, including Cathedral City Smoked, Cathedral City Caramelised Onion and Cathedral City Sweet Chilli.
Elaine McCague, Cathedral City Marketing Manager says "Consumers today are looking for meal inspiration & excitement to add interest and variety to everyday eating occasions. While the market for flavoured cheese remains relatively small, it is seeing growth ahead of the market as more people become open to experimenting.
We believe that our Cathedral City brand has the credibility to entice new users to try flavoured cheeses, and the ability to take flavoured cheddar beyond the cheeseboard and into everyday meal occasions- bringing variety to sandwiches, light meals and cooking. This presents a very real growth opportunity both for the category and for Cathedral City."
The new Cathedral City flavoured cheeses have been developed in partnership with Long Clawson Dairy using Cathedral City Mature cheddar and carry back of pack meal ideas to inspire usage.
Cathedral City is the leading UK cheddar brand, now worth over £284m and driving 5.1% year on year growth3. Cathedral City is enjoyed by one in every two UK households4.
The Cathedral City flavoured block range launched into Asda in 2014 and will be rolling out to Sainsburysand Morrisons from May 2015 and to Tesco from June 2015.
