Former AMD CEO Hector Ruiz has written a book about the chip wars between Intel and AMD.
'Slingshot: AMD's Fight to Free An Industry From The Ruthless Grip of Intel' - is the title of a book written by former AMD CEO Hector Ruiz to be published at the end of April.
"We blew the top off the industry and exposed its unsavoury secrets in a way that forced Intel and computer makers to back off their backroom deals and clean up their act.," Ruiz tells the Wall Street Journal.
Intel was found guilty of anti-competitive practices and fined in Japan, Korea and Europe.
When America investigated Intel's practices via the FTC, the case was settled by Intel paying $1.25 billion which meant that the evidence was not publicly revealed.
Announcing the settlement, Jon Leibowitz, Chairman of the FTC which had seen the evidence, declared: "We believe Intel stepped well over the line of aggressive competition on the merits, and engaged in unfair, deceptive and anti-competitive conduct. The sum total of all this anti-competitive conduct unfairly prevented companies from competing, bolstered Intel's monopoly, and harmed consumers by stunting innovation, diminishing quality, and keeping prices higher than they would otherwise be."
