CRI Journalists Enjoy Luoyang Peonies

On April 12th, Chinese and foreign journalists from CRI viewed the peonies at the National Flower Park of China. As the peonies go into full bloom, tourists from all over the country flock to view them.

For many of the foreign journalists, it was their first time to see the peonies in person. Upon entering the park, a rich fragrance was quickly apparent. The journalists took photos of the peonies, praising their beauty from time to time. Lei Yuxing, a German reporter from CRI Online, said that there were more varieties of peony in Luoyang than in Germany. She declared the white peony as her favorite.

The National Flower Park of China is the nation's largest ornamental garden exclusively for peonies, showcasing the most attractive specimens and the rarest varieties. Peonies are naive to central and eastern Asia. The 666 square meter garden was completed in April 2003. It is located on the site of the ancient city of Sui and Tang Dynasties on the southern bank of the Luo River. The park boasts to have roughly 600 thousand peonies in more than 1080 varieties.
