Dutch lighting design company Daglicht&Vorm has won the International Association of Lighting Designers(IALD)Radiance Award for its Broken Light project in Rotterdam.
Daglicht&Vorm was one of fifteen award winners to be recognized by the 29th annual International Lighting Design Awards, held 10 May at the Renaissance Hotel in Las Vegas during Lightfair International.
Daglicht&Vorm's award comes after receiving a series of accolades within the last year. Most recently,it took the best International Exterior Project at the Lighting Design Awards in March.
Broken Light was created as part of a design competition for the Katendrecht neighbourhood in Rotterdam.
Commenting on the winning project, one IALD judge said:''It is technically fascinating, and an equally ambitious solution to an often mundane lighting commission.''
The fifteen winners recognised by the IALD represent architectural lighting design projects from seven countries. Two of the fifteen projects earned Special Citations, six earned Awards of Merit and seven earned Awards of Excellence.
''The IALD received more than 200 submissions, drawn from all over the world,to its call for entries this year,''said Diane McNabb Rodriguez, associate IALD and IALD International Lighting Design Awards chair.
''These design solutions are high in caliber, varied in scope, geographically diverse and uniformly stunning to look at.''
The highest point score winner across all categories,in addition to receiving an Award of Excellence for their project, receives the IALD Radiance Award for Excellence in Lighting Design.
Entries are judged over a period of three days. The judges score the projects quantitatively, with a numeric value assigned to each entry after a period of discussion.
The panel of judges includes lighting designers, architects and interior designers.
