The National Meteorological Center on Sunday issued a yellow alert as China enters the dog days, which means the sultry days of the summer. The heat wave will hit central, eastern and northern China.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the dog days of summer are most commonly experienced in the months of July and August, which typically observe the hottest summer temperatures. In the Southern Hemisphere, they typically occur in February and March, in the midst of the austral summer.
The upcoming heat wave will even worsen the drought. Local governments have taken measures to reduce its impact on agricultural production.
