The 50th Defense Day and solidarity with martyrs was commemorated today at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing with enthusiasm and solemnity paying homage to the martyrs of the 1965 War.
The hallmark of the day was a tribute to the brave souls who rendered the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of the motherland, including in the War on Terror.
It was marked by a grand reception and ceremony at Pakistan House and adjacent lawns were tastefully decorated with banners, posters and multimedia projections which gave an extraordinary ambience to the occasion.
The event was overwhelmingly attended by a large number of guests numbering over 350 including Ambassadors from the Diplomatic Corps, ex Ambassadors to Pakistan, Defence and Military Attaches, Think Tanks, Media Persons, Senior Representatives from the Defense Industry, Organizations, Enterprises, representation from different ministries and the Pakistani Diaspora in China.
The Governor Balochistan HE Mr Muhammad Khan Achakzai also graced the event.
The large attendance at the occasion was a testimony to close Pakistan -China relations and relations between the two militaries.
The ceremony began with the playing of the National Anthems of Pakistan and China. This was followed by cake cutting marking the 50th anniversary of the 1965 War.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Admiral Sun Jianguo (DCGS) of the PLA, HE Governor of Balochistan, Ambassador Masood Khalid and Defence & Army Attaché Brigadier Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat, who collectively sliced the cake to mark the day.
The event was followed by a performance by Chinese artists from the China Cultural Association who sang Pakistani songs to appreciative applause from the audience.
