US Kids Earn a Poor Grade on Overall Physical Activity Level

US children are failing at fitness, according to a new report from National Physical Activity Plan. Only 42% of 6-to 11-year-olds and *% of 12-to-15-years-olds in the US meet the minimum criteria for activity. Meanwhile, the percentage of chilldren who usually walk or ride a bicycle to schools is only 13%.

Compounding these negative physical fitness statistics is the finding that 46% of US children ages 6-15 engaged in more than 2 hours daily of screen time, earing a "D" for sedentary behavior. One solution suggests PHIT America is daily physical education in all schools for grades K through 12 as research shows that students with PE in school are more likely to be active outside of school.
