We all have a different idea of what comprises a comfortable, welcoming and attractive home, and cccccAnd if you're looking for unique interior design inspiration, the work of Sera Hersham-Loftus could be a good place to start.
A designer who has carried out work for well-known names like Rachel Stevens, Eliza Doolittle, Sadie Frost and Yoko Ono, Sera has been experimenting with interiors ever since she was a child. Rearranging furniture, painting rooms in unusual colours and combining different fabrics and motifs were part of her distinctive style even as a teenager.
In an interview with the Jewish Chronicle, Sera explained: "People liked the way I did things. It was always very boudoir - feminine but with a touch of rock 'n' roll about it."
Her big break, she says, came when she made a collection of lampshades with a corset design. They were featured in Vogue magazine, and since then her decorating diary has been full. "From then on I got known for this really bohemian kind of style," she adds.
Sera's house is in a constant state of change, particularly because she's always trying new things, using her own home as a test canvas."I have a big collection of African, Victorian and Chinese textiles. I love things that are cheap and cheerful but look good. I get most of my stuff from markets," she says.
In addition, she likes to use raw materials such as wood, stone and plants, and low seating is often featured in her interiors. "All the rooms reflect my personality. I'm a free-spirited person," she explains.
Whatever design style you opt to feature in your home, good lighting is essential. A combination of ambient light - such as flush ceiling lights - as well as task lighting and decorative illumination will work together to create a stunning interior.
